Nurse of the Year was issued an arrest warrant for not being a nurse!

Betty Lichtenstein from Norwalk Connecticut was charged today for pretending to be a nurse at a doctor’s office.

The Nursing Association of Connecticut awarded Betty Lichtenstein top honors in 2008 and their “Nurse of the Year.”

Here’s the kicker.  The Connecticut Nursing Association does not exist!

Her employer, Dr. Gerald Weiss believed Lichtenstein was a registered nurse and only found out she was not after a patient complained about Lichtenstein and the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit began an investigation.

What are the penalties for impersonating a nurse?  Up to five years in prison if convicted of reckless endangerment and criminal impersonation charges.
